A.k.a. The 7 Outfits I Have Been Wearing on Repeat

Even before we were sent into quarantine, I considered myself a master of the art of dressing for days spend entirely in the house. As much as I want to say that when I was working at my remote internship I spent that time finding all the coziest study nooks on campus and trying as many local coffee shops and cafés as I could, the truth is I spent a lot of those days on the couch in my apartment working through the mind numbing tasks they gave me. So, now that everyone is standing in their closet trying to figure out outfits for a whole week of sitting in quarantine I figured I should share what I’m wearing.

Monday: A Powerful Workout Outfit

It’s Monday, the day you pledge to stop snacking and start joining in some Instagram Live workouts. Of course you want to spend the day in a super cute workout outfit. This one makes me feel so strong with the encouraging words and the bright red in the pants. If you really aren’t feeling the day it is a good idea to try wearing some bright colors. They can help brighten your mood. As good as everyone looks in black, finding bright colors that look amazing on you can be empowering. The Monday blues have nothing on this fiery red!

Tuesday: Tie Dye

If you haven’t heard, tie dye is the new quarantine outfit trend. I even have a tutorial for How to Tie Dye a Shirt because who can resist such a fun activity and the opportunity for another personalized piece. Whether you make it yourself or find the perfect one from your favorite store, this is a great look for quarantine. I have a nice roomy sweatshirt so it is perfect for lounging around. I also love that I happened to have the perfect color legging which made this outfit come together perfectly. There is a set of matching socks with this because, let’s face it, I am not going to wear shoes if I’m not leaving the house.

Wednesday: Zoom Meeting Day

The true benefit of these internet meetings is the ability to dress comfortably from the waist down. No trousers digging in your stomach after you sit only for them to nearly fall off as soon as you stand (just me?). As much as I love to really get myself dressed up (and if you are feeling particularly down it may be a good move), there is still something exciting about sitting in a professional setting knowing you are wearing a pair of sweatpants. One of the other benefits of this outfit is the fact that the sweater is soft so the whole outfit is cozy. Plus, I am in love with this chunky chain; if only I could wear it out!

Thursday: School Pride

Not to bring down the mood, but I really wish I was back at school. Whenever I get in this mood I find it helpful to show some school pride. I got this shirt when I went to tour Arcadia so it has a lot of sentimental value. It is a lot of fun to share this look with your school friends and have everyone come together in all of your gear. It’s like spirit week in high school all over over again when you set a theme for the day.

Friday: Your Jeans Still Fit

If you are not used to staying in your home all day or you normally spend your week wearing something other than leggings this can be a hard transition. I try to actually put some real pants on once a week. It is one of the few quarantine outfits that makes me feel like I’m still being productive. If you know me, it’s no surprise the I’ve been reaching for my wide-leg jeans more than any other cut. They have both the structure and the comfort that I want for an outfit that I will be wearing inside most of the day. I also love a cropped sweatshirt with this because the high waist jeans are just begging for a cropped top. (This sweatshirt is from my favorite band Hippo Campus. If you are looking for some new music to check them out.)

Saturday: Comfy

If you haven’t seen these yet, blanket sweatshirts are an actual gift to humanity. The two most comfortable things in the world in one wonderful piece. Plus it has a pocket! This thing is amazing because you can fit your whole body in the warmth. A.k.a. it’s the perfect outfit for a day of binge watching Netflix. I like to throw on some shorts and fuzzy socks to finish my cozy outfit. Just like Saturdays before quarantine, I use these days to remind myself that not every day is going to be productive. After a week of stressing over life online take a break and just be Comfy.

Sunday: All in One Fun

Is anyone else bringing back the onesie? I feel like there was a time where these were the coolest and now (after the release of the Comfy) no one seems to be talking about them. I know people still have at least one of them stuffed in the bottom of their pajama drawer! This is my formal proposal for everyone to break their onsies out as one of the signature quarantine outfits. It’s not like we have anything better to do and they are awesome. I got this one as a gift when I was studying in London. It always brings me back to the good old days (three years ago) which is exactly what I need right now.

These are just some suggestions of quarantine outfits to let you know that you are not the only one stuck in a rut. The best advice I can give is to do what feels right for you. If you can’t get anything done in sweats, get dressed up like you normally would. Maybe try putting on a full face of makeup. At least try to get in the shower on a regular basis. Times are strange, but we are almost there. In the mean time, have some fun in whatever way you can.

Emelie
